A Special Order of Mortadella

Walk into any food store in Italy today and you will find a dizzying array of prosciutto, salamis, and all sorts of other delicacies coming from all over Italy.

However, just a few decades ago some food products that can now be found anywhere in Italy were far more specific to particular areas. Only avid food lovers and those with the economic means to travel were aware of what was available across the country and how to order it.

As LoveSicily we do not offer a specific family tracing service for those who want to trace their families back to Sicily, however, over the years we have helped a few people and have answered several requests. In this post we just want to list a few points that might be of help if you want to start looking for your roots in Sicily.

A visit at Felice's

Our cookery season is back on track and the first course is near its end. A wonderful bunch of people that truly enjoy cooking, wine and taking in everything Sicily has to offer.

One of our stops was at the Felice Modica estate - an up and coming winery with very promising Nero d'Avola DOC wine with wonderful reviews from both Gambero Rossi and the Veronelli Guide.
