The "Cava d'Ispica" (Ispica's Canyon) was formed by the erosion of old rivers going through the Iblei mountains that define the Ragusa province.
A visit to the Cava d'Ispica combines nature, archeology and history. It is a 13km long canyon that stretches from the territory of Ispica to Modica. Alongside the amazing and typically Meditarranean flora of citrus trees, fig trees and almond trees as well as wild caper you can find remains of troglodyte dwellings and Medieval villages and necropolises immersed in the wild nature of the Iblean hills.
Cava d'Ispica was also famous for the many water mills it had and one of them "Mulino Cavallo" can still be visited - giving unique insight in how life was in the late 19th century in Sicily.
