September 7th - September 13th 2008 Course
September marks the end of summer with temperatures still quite warm but also the chance of an occasional shower. This is also the time for harvesting grapes and wineries are at their busiest. Olives are also nearly ready and, from the end of September well into October, local olive oil presses fill the area with the intense smell of freshly squeezed olives.
At the cookery classes, we will focus more on autumn and winter Sicilian food using the best of the seasonal products available such as almonds, broccoli, prickly pears, pomegranates.
The course spans 6 days, with arrival on a Sunday and departure on a Saturday. We have four cookery lessons with the rest of the time dedicated to visits to Modica, Ragusa, Siracusa and their surroundings as well as wineries and seaside villages.
