"Sweet" Australia loves Sicily

Posted on Monday 21st of January 2008 under Food and Drink |

We just love it when the loveSicily travelers keep in touch with us and let us know how they are doing, so imagine when they even send us food from their country, like Sandra and Mary just did.

Today we got a nice parcel from Australia with various presents and sweets as the picture shows. Apparently the Australian "delicacy" to have are TIM TAMs, Australia's favourite chocolate biscuits. They are chocolate coated cookies with a creamy centre that you can eat on their own or use in many different recipes for sweets like cheesecakes and sundea or in cocktails, like Tim Tam Martini - there is even a recipe for a TIM TAM Slam which involves drinking coffee (or other hot drink) through a TIM TAM - not sure if we will be trying that though!

I guess all that remains now is to come up with an Australian-Sicilian recipe. To the right is a photo of the Torrone we prepared in Modica during a cookery course - perhaps a TIM TAM core?
