Best seaside in Sicily!

Once again this week we focus our attention on Noto. This time its not for the richness of its baroque architecture, the quality of the local sweets or the social and cultural events, but for its clean and beautiful beaches!

Lega Ambiente, the Italian national environmentalist association which publishes every year a "blue guide" to the best beaches in Italy, la Guida Blu, has given Noto a position in the top ten beaches of Italy and the best in Sicily.

Now, we are sure that the loveSicily travellers will not be surprised by the result has they have already enjoyed the beauty of the South-Eastern coast of Sicily through our tour of the Natural Reserve of Vendicari.

This area has a wonderful coast line which offers a variety of golden sandy beaches, cliffs and protected areas which are natural habitat for migratory birds and home to rock and sand-loving plants including wild thyme and prickly juniper. The area still reveals its rich history through its many archaeological sites from the Greek, Byzantine and Medieval times. So it offers a perfect balance for those who want to enjoy the seaside while visiting places of historical relevance.
