We visit each accommodation to evaluate location and services and talk to the owners/managers.
We ask for feedback from each guest and periodically re-visit ourselves to ensure that standards remain high. Based on that feedback we update our list.
We prefer small hotels - the average number of rooms is about 15.
The majority of our hotels are in historical palazzos or restored traditional masserias dating from the 18th century. If we do include a more modern hotel we make sure that there is excellent reason for it (e.g. this one).
Accommodations are categorised based on location types:
- Historical City Centre Accommodation is right in the heart of historical city centres, in historical palazzos and close to restaurants, monuments.
- Countryside accommodation is outside of towns and distant from busy roads. They offer relaxation and tranquility.
- Seaside accommodation is either right on the beach or less than 1km from the sea (we actually measure it).
Boutique hotels are those that beyond the historical value of the building they are located in also offering interesting design elements that make each room and the whole place even more special.
You pay the same or less than what you would pay if you booked straight with the accommodation.
